***Saturday BJJ Back at Epsom from March 28th***
The Epsom BJJ Saturday classes will resume this coming Saturday, March 28th. They were ran for the last two weeks at the Fight Factory in Purley, but have now returned to Epsom. The class will run from 1pm to 3pm as usual.

Saturday May 9th saw Jimi AKA 'Poster Boy', take the Ultimate Challenge UK Light-Heavyweight World Championship. He stopped Ryan Robinson at the beginning of round one at the lively Troxy venue in London's East End. See this interesting article form the Mirror blog.
New Monday Night Muay Thai Class at Energie
Theo will be holding Muay Thai classes every Monday night starting May 4th. They'll be held at Energie from 8.30 to 10pm.
Summer Interclub Gi Comp Set for June 6th
The next Nova Forca inter-club 'Gi' competition will take place June 6th, for 'white' and 'blue' belts only. For white belts, the categories are under 75 kilos and over; the blue belt category is open weight. With medals and prizes on offer, this is definitely a date for the diary, so see Ricardo or Tim for entry details.
Nova Forca's Gill & Lua Clean up in Round 1!
Si Gill and Ed 'The Edge' Lua furthered the team's winning streak with a pair of round-1 submissions at Ultimate Challenge UK, 'Unstoppable'. Gill brought the fight to a close via an armbar at 2:27, while Lua slapped on a rear naked choke in one minute and 24-seconds, in the same fashion as his 'Unbreakable' win. Radcliffe Scores Another Win at Extreme Brawl
Tim extended his tally of wins in the UK lightweight MMA category with a round-1 win at Extreme Brawl, Saturday 21st. The bout was stopped by the doctor at around the 2-minute mark. For a brief write-up, check out this piece in the Mirror blog.
Elsewhere, Si Gill & Ed Lua Prepare for Ultimate Challenge UK....
Donning the MMA gloves once again, Si Gill's scheduled to take on John Joe Ellis at Ultimate Challenge UK, 'Unstoppable', this coming Saturday, March 28th. On the same card and fresh off his recent win, Ed 'The Edge' Lua will step into the cage following the gauntlet laid by Dean Bray at 'Unbreakable' last month.

Wednesday & Friday Muay Thai Classes at Energie Gym!
Theo's Wednesday Muay Thai classes are moving from Concorde Hall in Epsom, to the nearby Energie Gym, formerly Fitness First, also in Epsom, and will remain there. The first class will be Wednesday March 4th and run from 8pm to 10pm. There will also be Friday classes at Energie Gym, the first one being March 13th. The address is as follows:

Nova Forca Win Big at Ultimate Challenge 'Unbreakable'
Jimi 'Poster Boy' Manuwa & Ed Lua score two big wins for the club
Jimi Manuwa took the win from boxer Jamie Hearn last Saturday at East London's Troxy via a round-1 guillotine. Ed Lua submitted Scott Jansen in round-2 with a RNC after a war of a first round. Jimi moves up to 4-0, while Ed notched up his seventh, bringing his tally to 4-3.

At 3 - 0, Jimi AKA 'Poster Boy', is steadily making a name for himself in the light heavyweight category of the UK MMA scene. His next outing is Saturday February 7th at the Troxy in East London, where he's set to take on boxer Jamie Hearn. With some serious tuition from Ricardo and the team, Jimi intends to maintain his winning ways.
On the same card, Nova Forca's Ed 'The Edge' Lua is scheduled to fight Scot Jansen in the welterweight division. Should be a good night!

Team Nova Forca Shine at MMA Event 'FX3'!
In an evening full of excitement (22/6/08) , Nova Forca's new brown belt, beat MMA veteran Sami "the Hun" Berik in 4:59 of round-1 by RNC. On the same fight card, Ed "The Edge" Lua vanquished Brendan Flannigan in similar round-1 fashion, though a tad sooner at 2:39. To view some pictures of the action, please visit the forum.

We have moved and are now training at our new location, along with a new brown belt....
The first session at the new venue was Saturday May 24th at 1pm, and saw a round of promotions; 3-blue belts, 2-purples, and 1-brown! See below for all relevant details, including timetable and location.

The concept of Mixed Martial Arts, where fighters from different arts compete against one another, is generally seen as a relatively recent development and yet contests between fighters from different martial arts have been common and incredibly in Brazil for over a hundred years. During this time, fighters from many countries have travelled to Brazil, bringing their own unique skills and different styles of combat with them. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu has developed out of this eclectic mix of forms and techniques, and it continues to advance today as an art specifically designed for the Mixed Martial Arts arena.
